MalacaƱang urged workers employed in the fireworks industry to find alternative livelihood following the plan of President Rodrigo Duterte to impose a nationwide ban on the use of firecrackers by 2021.
In a virtual presser Tuesday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte’s warning was an advance notice to workers and firecracker manufacturers.
In a taped public address Monday, Duterte said he was considering a total ban on the sale and use of firecrackers by mid-2021.
“It’s really a dangerous thing, and for reasons of public safety and health,” he also said.
