Sen. Panfilo Lacson is keen on achieving a deterrent effect in pursuing legislation to reimpose the death penalty especially on heinous crimes.
Lacson authored Senate Bill 27, which reimposes the death penalty on a range of heinous crimes, including murder and plunder.
“Sa tingin ko naging deterrent ito o encouragement sa biktima ng krimen,” he said in an interview with Politiko.
“Kasi deterrent ang habol natin. Sa atin importante ma-deter ang commission ng krimen,” he added.
As early as July 2019, Lacson filed Senate Bill 27, which seeks to impose capital punishment on heinous crimes.
