Ramon Ang, Isko Moreno, Manny Pacquiao among potential presidential bets: study

By Prince Golez

Sixteen politicians and businessmen are likely to run in the next presidential election, according to the political consultancy firm BluePrint showed.

According to its June 1 to November 30 sentiment analysis on Facebook, San Miguel Corporation’s Ramon Ang, real estate tycoon Manny Villar, Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, and Senator Manny Pacquiao are among the possible bets for the highest government post in 2022.

Also in the list are Vice President Leni Robredo; Senators Grace Poe, Christopher Go, Risa Hontiveros, Pia Cayetano, and Vicente Sotto III; Representatives Alan Peter Cayetano and Lucy Torres-Gomez; former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.; Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla; and human rights lawyer Jose Manuel Diokno.

“If we go by our big data metrics, about 16 names are frequently being mentioned on social media, particularly Facebook, as potential presidential candidates,” BluePrint.PH chief executive officer (CEO) Eero Brillantes said in a statement.

“All have paths to the presidency. Social media networking activities alone through Facebook can generate 22 percent to 35 percent of the votes in 2022,” he added.

The CEO noted four components to a serious campaign: ground game, the air war through mainstream media, network engineering (social media), and big data for decision support.

The 16 names have one of the components, but none of them possess the four components, he said.

“Social media will be a major battleground at 22 percent-35 percent potential votes. The ground game and mainstream media through advertising and public relations will account for the 65 percent-78 percent of vote generational potential,” said Brillantes.
