Is Vice President Leni Robredo planning a return to local politics after holding the second highest elective position in the country?
Journalist Philip Lustre has claimed that Robredo wants to run for governor in Camarines Sur in the 2022 elections.
In a tweet posted Monday (January 18), Lustre listed some alternative choices to Robredo in case she doesn’t want to seek the presidency in the next elections.
“MAY PAGPIPILIAN kung ayaw ni LENI ROBREDO gumitna sa 2022. Nandiyan sina: Franklin Drilon; Kiko Pangilinan; at Sonny Trillanes. Hndi katapusan ng mundo kung ayaw ni Leni,” he said.
“Mas gusto niya tumakbo bilang gobernador ng Camarines Sur. Hindi natin siya mapipilit. Siya ang magdesisyon,” Lustre added.
Robredo, the Liberal Party’s chairperson, has yet to share her political plans for 2022. However, she has consistently said the presidency is destiny.
The Vice President used to represent Camarines Sur’s third district in the House of Representatives before she won in the 2016 elections.
Pulse Asia’s survey late last year on potential presidential candidates showed Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as voters’ top choice. Robredo wasn’t in the top five in terms of preference.
