President Rodrigo Duterte may still go first in line for a coronavirus vaccine to allay public fears, his spokesman said.
“Kung importante po iyan talaga para magkaroon ng kumpiyansa ang taumbayan, iniisip ko naman po hindi imposible iyan dahil minsan na ngang sinabi po iyan ng ating Presidente,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview over GMA’s Unang Hirit Monday.
“Kung sa tingin niya ay talagang natatakot ang mga tao sa bakuna, eh hindi naman po siya mag-a-atubili na mauna. Basta ang sa kaniya, interes ng taumbayan bago interes ng mga namumuno,” added Roque.
In his January 13 speech , Duterte said he would be among the last to get the Covid-19 vaccine to give vaccination priority to health care workers, essential workers, and vulnerable people.
He, however, offered in August last year to be the first person to receive a vaccine from Russia as he expressed “huge trust” in the country’s effort against the health crisis.
