President Rodrigo Duterte has signed Executive Order No. (EO) 124 imposing a ceiling on pork and chicken prices.
This was confirmed by Senator Christopher Go in a Laging Handa public briefing Monday.
The price ceiling will be implemented within the National Capital Region for 60 days.
“Kinokomendahan ko po ang pag-issue ng Pangulo ng EO na ito upang itigil ang tuloy-tuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng pagkain,” said Go.
“Kailangan natin itong solusyonan lalong-lalo na sa panahon ngayon na marami pong mga kababayan natin ang nawalan ng trabaho,” he added.
Last week, the Department of Agriculture called on Duterte to order a price cap on pork and chicken to address the rising costs in Metro Manila.
Malacañang has yet to release a final copy of the executive order.
