Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is dismayed that the Philippines is lagging behind its neighbors in the rollout of the vaccination program.
Trillanes, in his latest social media post, chided President Duterte over the alleged slow vaccination drive. He said it was unacceptable that the “VIPs” in government have so far been vaccinated with smuggled drugs.
“Israel already had 50% of their population vaccinated. ASEAN countries have rolled out vaccination programs as well. As for us, mga gov’t VIPs pa lang may bakuna, smuggled pa. Hindi pwedeng ganito. Remember, the fate of our people and our economy is at stake,” he tweeted.
The former lawmaker also questioned Duterte’s work ethic, asking why he only appeared to do his job once a week. He asked the media to prod Duterte to exert more effort especially in the vaccination drive.
“The media should keep the pressure on duterte to work on this. They could start by calling him out kung bakit once a week lang sya nagtatrabaho,” he said.
The President holds a meeting with the government task force battling the COVID-19 pandemic every Monday. A prerecorded public address is usually aired on PTV-4 television network later in the night.
