President Rodrigo Duterte said he would replace airport personnel who allow travelers to skip health protocols amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
“There are reports that some people are skipping, na nakakalusot sila with the help of airport personnel at sa mga barko. I say this now as I have said it before: Do not do it kasi mayayari talaga kayo,” Duterte said during his weekly public address Monday.
The Chief Executive threatened that airport personnel allowing unauthorized travel will be assigned to the provinces.
“You do it by allowing unauthorized travel when all of us are really worried of containing the contamination, na ikontrol in and out. Almost every country now is controlling the entry and the departure of their citizens,” according to him.
“May nahuli lang ako na isa, lahat kayo palitan ko. I will assign you to the provinces and I will get the new ones assigned in other cities also. Magpalit kayo.
“Just one incident tapos kayong lahat. Hindi na bale sa akin kung ikaw o hindi. I do not care if kasali ka diyan sa hindi kasi racket ‘yan eh,” added Duterte.
The government earlier blocked all flights from 21 countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States, until January 15, 2021 to prevent the transmission of the new coronavirus strain.
