‘Kalampagin si Duterte:’ Trillanes wants gov’t to present COVID vaccine plan ASAP

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is calling for transparency in the government’s planned purchase and distribution of coronavirus vaccines in the country. The media, he said, should help prod the Duterte government to disclose the vaccine acquisition plans.

“I am calling on the media to press the duterte admin to present the vaccination procurement/roll out plan ASAP,” Trillanes tweeted Sunday, January 3.

Trillanes is dismayed with the government’s apparent slow vaccination rollout. As Filipinos await for the government’s plan, the former senator said other countries have already started giving vaccines to its citizens. “Nagsimula na ang ibang bansa nung December pa. Dito sila-sila pa lang,” he said.

Trillanes also expressed support for a congressional inquiry into the Presidential Security Group’s vaccination as proposed by Senate Majority Leader Franklin Dirilon.

“Before the vaccine issue gets buried again, let us support Sen. Drilon’s call for a Senate investigation,” he said.

Trillanes wanted to know eight things, including the source of the vaccines and how they were smuggled into the country. He said the public must also know who administered those vaccines to the select government personnel.

Trillanes also asked if President Duterte and other senior public officials have already been vaccinated.

“What is the status of the vaccine procurement,” he asked. “What is the vaccine distribution/administration plan,” he added.
