Malacañang brushed off the recent call of Senator Leila de Lima to investigate the potential sale of the Fuga, Grande and Chiquita Islands to China.
“Siguro po talagang marami na pong guni-guni ang ating senador sa kanyang kulungan,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser Monday.
Roque stressed that foreigners are not allowed to buy and own land in the Philippines.
“Bawal pong bumili ng kahit anong lupa ang mga dayuhan,” he said.
Watchdog Pinoy Aksyon for Governance and the Environment also called for the investigation of the anomalous activities concerning some of the country’s islands, namely, Fuga in Cagayan province, and Grande and Chiquita in Subic Bay.
