PNP to get first dibs: DOJ to make review of drug war deaths public

The inter-agency panel is set to disclose before the public the contents of its initial report submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte on the review conducted on over 5,000 illegal drugs operations that have resulted to deaths, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra said.

Guevarra said this decision was reached during his meeting with member agencies of the DOJ-led panel on Friday (Jan. 29).

“We all agreed that the findings, though partial and confined to certain pilot areas, should be disclosed,” the secretary.

“The PNP, however, requested to be given a copy of the initial report submitted to the president, so that it may be given the opportunity to comment,” he added.

Guevarra said that the PNP will be given a copy of the report next week.

“We will give them a few days to go over it,” the secretary said.

“The report will not be edited as it has already been submitted to the President much earlier,” he noted.
