Beaten not once, but twice! It’s final: SC junks Bongbong Marcos’ poll protest vs Robredo

Vice President Leni Robredo won the 2016 elections fair and square.

The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), upheld Robredo’s victory on Tuesday (February 16) as it dismissed the election protest filed by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Supreme Court spokesperson Brian Hosaka said all 15 magistrates of the tribunal voted to junk the protest.

“Out of the 15 members of the tribunal who were present in today’s meeting, seven members fully concurred in the dismissal while eight concurred in the result,” the Supreme Court’s press briefer on the issue read.

Marcos ran to the Supreme Court on June 29, 2016 to challenge Robredo’s victory, saying the election was marred by fraud. The Vice President won by a margin of 263,473 votes in the May 2016 polls.
