Malacañang on Monday denied that the government is focusing on “propaganda” instead of fixing its coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic response.
Vice President Leni Robredo earlier urged the Duterte administration to “stop the propaganda” and just address the country’s low ranking among countries in terms of anti-Covid-19 response.
“Ma’am, hindi propaganda ang World Health Organization (WHO). Baka magalit ang WHO dahil sinasabi niyo nagpapakalat ng propaganda. Hindi po. WHO ang nagsabi kung saan na tayo sa ating COVID response,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during a televised briefing.
Roque said the Philippines, according to the WHO, ranked 32nd in the world when it comes to total number of Covid-19 cases; 45th (active cases); 134th (cases per 1 million population); and 72nd (case fatality rate).
“Ito ang katotohanan. Bakit namin paniniwalaan ang ibang pag-aaral, samantalang lahat tayo nagtitiwala sa WHO sa panahon ng pandemiya? Hindi propaganda yan, katotohanan. Buksan ang mata, buksan ang tenga,” he also said.
