Pork products sold in supermarkets will now be subject to the price cap, Malacañang announced Thursday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) vowed that imported pork products in supermarkets will also be covered by the price cap.
Kinakailangan things similarly situated must be treated alike. So ngayon po patas,” he added.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Order No. 124, which imposed a price ceiling on pork and chicken for 60 days in the National Capital Region.
The Department of Agriculture had said the price freeze only applies to meat products sold in public or wet markets in Metro Manila.
