MalacaƱang denied on Thursday that President Rodrigo Duterte was spending more time criticizing Vice President Leni Robredo than addressing concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Robredo’s spokesman Atty. Barry Gutierrez in a recent statement claimed that the Duterte administration should give more attention to the problems of the country instead of “attacking” the vice president.
“Hindi naman siya pinag-aaksayahan ng panahon. Tuloy po ang aming trabaho samantalang si VP Leni po’y namumulitika at nangangampanya na para maging President sa pamamagitan po ng kanyang walang tigil na birada sa administrasyon,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.
“Kinakailangan lang po sumagot pero this has not deflected us from our mission to serve nation at the time of pandemic. Nakatutok po kami sa trabaho at ang pulitika po is at the far back end of the mind of the Presidente. Trabaho lang po kami,” he furthered.
Duterte earlier criticized Robredo, who has consistently criticized the government’s Covid-19 response efforts, for creating “doubts” in the minds of the people when she pushed for a review of Sinovac vaccines by the Health Technology Assessment Council.
The tough-talking President also advised her to “just maybe shut up” if she has nothing good to say.
