President Rodrigo Duterte said he’s not thin-skinned but angry with Vice President Leni Robredo for “creating uncertainty and doubts” over the use of Sinovac vaccines from China.
“Hindi ako pikon. Galit ako. Iyong galit ko hindi naman galit na galit na talagang gustong pumatay ng tao. Galit na more of an irritation. Iyong nairita ako sa binibitawan mong salita. Hindi ako galit. Galit in the sense na iyong parang nairita nga,” Duterte said during his weekly address Monday evening.
According to him, Robredo came up with a “half truth” that donated CoronaVac shorts required to undergo review by Health Technology Assessment Council prior to vaccination.
“Imbis makatulong si Vice President, she muddled up everything. Thereby, I said, creating an uncertainty and doubt in the minds of the people. So ‘yon ang nagalitan ko because we were running against time, kailangan mabakuna na agad,” he added.
Last week, Robredo called Duterte “sobrang pikon” after the president challenged her to shop overseas for Covid-19 vaccines abroad.
