The fast-paced procurement process will address the shortage of medicines used in coronavirus (Covid-19) treatment in the country, Malacañang said.
Spokesman Harry Roque made the statement in response to the statement of the Department of Health that stocks of the experimental antiviral drugs remdesivir and tocilizumab are running low.
Remdesivir is an antiviral medication originally developed to treat hepatitis C and a cold-like virus called respiratory syncytial virus while tocilizumab is an anti-inflammatory drug for rheumatoid arthritis.
