Go to public: ‘Rest assured, no delay in Covid-19 vaccine rollout’

Senator Bong Go on Saturday assured the public that there was no delay in the rollout of the government’s Covid-19 vaccination program with more Sinovac and AstraZeneca doses arriving in the coming weeks.

“As per latest report from our vaccine czar, in addition to the first 600,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines donated by the Chinese government, we are expecting next week the additional donation of around 400,000 doses of Sinovac plus one million doses purchased by our government,” he said.

“We also expect anytime soon the arrival of 979,200 AstraZeneca doses, in addition to 525,600 earlier received through the COVAX Facility,” the former presidential assistant said.

Go said the steady supply of vaccines “will provide us with more than 3.5 million doses enough to inoculate our 1.7 million healthcare workers towards the second quarter of 2021.”

“Rest assured, there is no delay in our vaccine rollout. We are simply complying with the necessary processes, aligned with the agreed schedule, as negotiated with our international partners,” he said.

“Taliwas ito sa mga haka-haka ng iilang grupo na nais lamang siraan ang gobyerno at magkalat ng maling impormasyon,” Go said.

“Sa mga kritiko, hindi makakatulong ang paninisi. Magtulungan na lang tayo. Sigurado ako na kung magkakaisa ang buong sambayanan, mas bibilis ang ating pagbabakuna at mas marami tayong maliligtas na buhay,” he added.
