The Philippine government has suspended cockfighting in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ due to rising coronavirus disease cases in the country.
The latest directive was contained in Resolution No. 103 issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases last March 18.
In October 2020, the IATF allowed cockfighting activities to resume in areas under under the least restrictive MGCQ.
The Task Force, however, authorized local government units to have the final decision on whether such operation can proceed in their respective localities.
