Honda Cars PH Adding More Than 8,300 Units to Airbag Recall

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is recalling an additional ,365 vehicles due to faulty Takata airbags. This recall covers the front driver’s airbag inflator in Accord, CR-V, and Legend models manufactured between 1995 to 2001, and is a follow-up to an initial list published in 2018. The breakdown is as follows:
  • Accord (CF9) – 1,472 units
  • Accord (CG5) – 2 units
  • CR-V (RD1) – 6,889 units
  • Legend (K9A) – 2 units
According to the automaker, findings show an error that causes the front passenger airbag to be over pressurized during airbag deployment. The excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture when the airbag deploys. When this happens, metal fragments can be propelled in different directions, and may cause injury to the vehicle occupants.

HCPI says that countermeasure parts are now available, and they will replace the old airbag inflator with a new one free of charge. The replacement is done in as little as one hour, and all 38 authorized Honda Dealers and Service Centers are equipped to do the replacement.

Owners can reach their nearest authorized Honda dealership for details, or call the Honda Cars hotline at 1 800 1000 46632 or 02 8857 7240.
