Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin, Jr. defended Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Secretary Salvador Panelo following criticism of his recent jeepney ride to a public market in San Juan City.
“Those are not netizens but netwits. Panelo’s been taking jeepneys since he became a public official,” Locsin said in a March 7 tweet.
On Sunday, photos sent by a commuter to the Manila Bulletin showed Panelo riding a jeepney to see for himself if health safety protocols were being followed on public transport.
Other photos showed Panelo visiting the Agora Public Market.
Netizens were quick to comment on social media about the photos, calling the official’s recent trip a publicity stunt.
They also raised doubts about the commuter who followed Panelo to his trip to the wet market.
