Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano reiterated his call for the government to give P10,000 cash aid to families in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cayetano said the government should act swiftly not only to implement the vaccination roll-out program but also social welfare measures to uplift the lives of those gravely affected by the pandemic.
“Kung titignan mo lahat no, maraming not in our control, katulad nung bagong variation. Pero ‘yung pananalapi ng ating bansa, at ‘yung kalagayan ng ating kababayan, we are not only responsible for that, we are in a position to help dahil may pera naman ang gobyerno,” he said.
Cayetano and his allies have been pushing for the passage of a measure that would give P10,000 financial subsidy to each family. The bill was filed on February 1.
The House Committee on Social Services has yet to tackle the proposed measure.
“One year na since the lockdown and siguro ay natuto tayong maging mas madasalin. Having said that, the government should not only be responsible, dapat ay hindi sila balat-sibuyas kasi ang government dapat accountable sa tao,” he added.
