Unlike other officials, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. is taking an expert’s advise on how to stop a possible second wave of COVID-19 cases brought by the new variants of the virus
Dr. Tony Leachon, a former adviser of the National Task Force Against COVID-19, recently gave five steps on how to stop the surge of new infections due to the South Africa and UK variants.
He proposed the granular lockdowns of Pasay City and other hotspots, intensified testing, genomic surveillance and contact tracing, vaccination in NCR Hotspot, fasttracking of other vaccine arrivals and strict enforcement od health protocols.
Locsin retweeted the expert’s recommendation with a comment “perfect.”

This is far from the hostile answers of officials like Sec. Harry Roque and Sec. Carlito Galvez to the previous recommendations of Leachon, who has been vocal about the government’s handling of the pandemic.
In a Facebook post, the specialist expressed gratefulness to the former lawmaker for his support.
