Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo on Sunday urged critics of President Rodrigo Duterte to run against the administration bets in the 2022 elections to find out who will get more support from the Filipino people.
Panelo was reacting to the launch of the 1Sambayan, a pro-democracy coalition formed by retired Supreme Court associate justice Antonio Carpio, which aims to field a united slate to challenge Duterte’s bets in next year’s polls.
“Tama yan. Do it. I dare you. Run against the Duterte administration candidates,” Panelo said in his commentary show “Counterpoint.”
“Lumaban kayo kay Presidente, Magsama-sama kayo. Bakit? Para magkaalaman na kasi wala na nga kayong makitang magandang ginawa ng presidenteng ito. So, kung totoo ang lahat ng sinasabi niyo, yun ang ikampanya niyo sa taong bayan,” the abogado added.
Panelo also encouraged Duterte supporters to persuade the president to run for vice president “para magkaroon ng performance test.”
He went on to say: “’Pag nanalo kayo, eh di totoo lahat ng sinasabi ninyo. Pero mag nanalo ang presidente bilang bise presidente, ibig sabihin sampal sa inyong lahat yan.”
