If some Filipinos cannot vote for him, at least they should give him the respect he has earned.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson said this Thursday of fellow senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, after some sectors threw shade on the boxer-senator’s competence to be President.
“I’d rather say, if you can’t vote for him, I will respect your right but at least, honor him. He has earned that and rightfully deserves it,” Lacson said on his Twitter account.

Lacson’s tweet came after Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. similarly tweeted that Pacquiao deserves honor for making Filipinos proud through his boxing victories.
According to Locsin, Pacquiao is “a good and honest man in every fibre of his being; kindness personified in the man who gave our country the greatest honor since EDSA ’86.”
“He made us proud again to be Filipino. He did it with less fuss: in a square ring—again and again. Don’t vote for but honor him,” Locsin said of Pacquiao.

Locsin’s tweet was in response to ex-justice Antonio Carpio’s claim that Pacquiao does not have the competence to lead the country due to his absences in Congress.
Pacquiao had also questioned why his detractors are using his absenteeism in Congress as a reason to question his competence to lead.
