The government has funds for assistance to 22.9 million Filipinos whose livelihood will be affected by the weeklong enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region and four nearby provinces, according to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
But, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado refused to disclose details of the financial aid, saying the proposal is currently being reviewed by the Office of the President.
“Awa ng Diyos po, meron naman pong pagkukunan tayo para sa Special Amelioration assistance na ibibigay natin sa mga naapektuhan nitong ating kasalukuyang pinapairal na ECQ,” Avisado said during a virtual presser Monday.
“Ang mga detalye po nito hindi ko pa po maisisiwalat sapagkat ito po’y nasa dahil kamay pa ng Office of the President at kasalukuyang nire-review ng Office of the Executive Secretary. But, hopefully, within the day po, magkaroon na ng anunsyo mismo ang Office of the President patungkol dito,” he added.
In an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel’s Headstart, Palace Spokesman Harry Roque said beneficiaries will receive more or less P2,000 in emergency subsidy.
