Palace Spokesman Harry Roque can’t imagine a Mar Roxas presidency with everything that’s been going on.
In an interview over TV5’s Diretsahan, Roque criticized how Roxas, who ran but lost to then mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 presidential race, led the government’s response to typhoon “Yolanda,” and handled the Mamasapano debacle.
“Can you really imagine a Roxas leading this country amidst the many trials that we have had from COVID pandemic to China?” the Palace official asked.
“‘Yun ang ‘di ko maisip kung Mar Roxas maging President knowing yung track record niya sa mga pagsusubok sa ‘Yolanda’ atsaka doon sa Mamasapano,” he said.
Prior to this, Roque described President Rodrigo Duterte as a “very good” and authentic leader.
“His heart is where it should. The Duterte influence is binigyan niya ng premium yung authenticity. Walang kaplastikan. I think he is the President we need right now,” he added.
