Malacañang on Monday defended President Rodrigo Duterte against those who called him out for trying to inappropriately touch his maid during his birthday celebration.
It was clearly a joke, according to Spokesman Harry Roque.
“Matagal na niyang kasambahay yun. Alam mo naman talagang palabiro ang ating presidente,” Roque said in a virtual presser.
The President, he added, intended no malice.
“Pero walang malisya yun dahil nakaharap naman don si Ma’am Honeylet,” the secretary said referring to Duterte’s common-law wife.
“Kung may magrereklamo, dapat yung kasama niya sa bahay,” he also said.
It can be recalled that in his speech in Kidapawan City in 2018, Duterte claimed he molested a househelp when he was a teenager.
