The initial coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine rollout among health workers has increased vaccine confidence, said Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, noting that more medical frontliners are signing up to be inoculated.
In an interview, Nograles said there is an “uptick” of Filipinos who have expressed willingness to get a Covid-19 vaccine.
“So, ‘nung una siguro, in the start, we’re seeing some hesitancy. But now mataas na. Hospitals now are asking us for more doses already,” the Palace official said.
“So, we’re seeing a lot of our healthcare workers who are already more open to taking the vaccine,” he added.
The first batch of Sinovac’s CoronaVax vaccines were administered to health workers in several hospitals in Metro Manila last week.
The Philippines also recently received the initial shipment of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility.
On Tuesday, Malacañang reported that as of March 7, a total of 35,669 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
