Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has deplored the misinformation circulating on social media about the health condition of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Wishing Duterte to fall ill health and dead, even in jest, was “foul and tasteless,” Andanar said in a statement Thursday.
“As we are being guided by President Duterte’s tough and efficient leadership during this pandemic, such sentiments are spiteful and detestable,” the Presidential Communications Operations Office chief added.
Andanar said Duterte, who decided to skip this week’s “Talk to the People” due to high Covid-19 cases among his close-in security, remains “safe and healthy” and is responding to the current pandemic of Covid-19.
“May these individuals and groups become conscientious of their malicious actions. Sowing confusion and preying on the susceptibility of others speaks volumes of their hateful nature. We leave their comeuppance to Providence,” according to him.
