‘Queen’ Mariel Padilla defends ‘King’ Robin’s Senate bid: Neither hungry for money nor power

Actor Robin Padilla is a first-time senatorial aspirant not to attain glory but offer sincere public service.

Mariel Padilla came to the defense of her husband Robin after he filed his senatorial candidacy at the poll office last week. She said Robin wanted to take action rather than just complain as well as “make a difference” in the country.

Robin, a supporter of President Duterte, will run for senator under the PDP-Laban faction backed by the chief executive. He was earlier torn between pursuing a political bid and focusing on his film career.

“Robin is not hungry for money or power,” Mariel said on Facebook.

“He is at a point in his life wherein he just wants to make a difference. Put action to all his complains. Speak for the muslims,” she said.

Mariel also expressed support for Robin as he embarked on his political journey. “Behind you, beside you and with you all the way @robinhoodpadilla 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼,” she said.

Reacting to his wife’s post, Robin thanked Mariel for the love and support. He said they may bicker at times but like in a chess game, the queen protects the king.

“May sarili siyang isip, lalong may sariling desisyon madalas pinagsasalpukan namin ngunit kailanman sa akin lang kanyang puso.
she will fight me and criticize me but she will never let anybody do it to me. family, friend or no friend im untouchable to them,” he said on Facebook.

“She will always make me feel the queen is playing her chess well in protecting her king. maraming salamat sa ❤️ Mariel Rodriguez Padilla,” he said.
