Best effort! BuCor vows to protect inmates, employees vs COVID-19

Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Bantag assured that he will protect inmates and the agency’s personnel against the COVID-19 virus as the country has yet to see a decline in the number of persons afflicted with the disease.

“Corrections Chief Undersecretary Gerald Q Bantag, in partnership with trusted organizations, pledges to consistently uphold the welfare of all BuCor stakeholders,” the BuCor said in a statement.

The BuCor said Bantag conveyed this during a meeting held Friday (April 9) held with BuCor officials and representatives of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).

During the meeting, the ICRC expressed “their commitment to helping the agency in its battle against COVID-19.”

Also, BuCor Directorate for Health Services (DHS) Acting Director Henry Fabro said during the meeting that the agency has “enough rapid antigen test kits and ascorbic acid vitamins for all Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) personnel and persons deprived of liberty.”
