Can’t post bail: Court orders arrest of Sandra Cam over Masbate vice mayor’s slay

A Manila regional trial court (RTC) has ordered the arrest without bail of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board member Sandra Cam and her son Marco Martin, both of whom are facing a murder charge for the 2019 killing of Batuan, Masbate Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson III.

Manila RTC Branch 42 Presiding Judge Dinnah Aguila-Topacio issued the arrest order dated April 16 after the murder case was filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) panel of prosecutors who conducted the preliminary investigation.

Also ordered arrested are five other accused, namely, Nelson Cambaya, Junel Gomez, Bradford Solis, Juanito De Luna, and Rigor dela Cruz.

“The Court after examining the information, the Resolution of Department of Justice Panel of Prosecutors, the complaint-affidavit and other supporting documents thereto, finds probable cause to issue a warrant of arrest of the above-named accused. “ read the arrest order.

The prosecutors conducted the preliminary investigation of the complaint filed in February last year by the Yuson family and Alforte following the investigation that was conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The Yuson family believed that the crime was politically motivated as Marco Martin lost in the 2019 mayoral elections to the vice mayor’s son, Charmax.

Cam has repeatedly denied that she was involved in the murder.

The vice mayor was gunned down on October 9, 2019 in an eatery in Sampaloc, Manila where he was visiting his brother who is a brangay official.

Alforte was also hurt during the shooting.
