President Rodrigo Duterte is pushing for a coordinated system of food distribution through community pantries.
In his pre-recorded message Wednesday, Duterte said the operation of community pantries should be scheduled to limit the number of people queuing for free food.
“Kung i-barangay-barangay ninyo but it would be easier really to control even the spacing can be at least enforced to the barest minimum,” the Chief Executive said.
“‘Yong sa barangay there is the purok and sitio. You can always schedule it for the purok so iilan lang ‘yang maglinya, then after that the sitio will be the next venue and the third is so forth and so on,” he explained.
Duterte said having an organized system for community pantries would avoid the risk of overcrowding.
“Let’s start with the basic political unit. [It’s] really the barangay and ‘yang mga sitio then the purok. ‘Pag maglinya lang sila not so much, then sabihin lang, ‘you’re next.’ Ganoon sana,” he also said.
