Ford Gives The Ranger Raptor A Race-Inspired Update For 2021

Ford is bringing rally raid-inspired styling to its Baja-inspired high-performance truck, the Ranger Raptor with the introduction of a new variant for 2021: the Ranger Raptor X.

On sale first in Australia and New Zealand (the rest of the markets could follow like the FX4 MAX), the Ranger Raptor X boasts of Over The Top” or OTT stripes—racing stripes, if you prefer to call them that—running across the hood, roof, and tailgate. The Carbon Twill Texture is matched with the Searing Red graphic and body stripe decal covering the doors and rear quarter panel. It also gets an extended sports bar which was first introduced in the FX4 MAX.

Along with these new body graphics, the Ranger Raptor X gets other aesthetic differentiations. It swaps the high-gloss black trim found on the fog lamp bezel, door handles, fender vent, side mirrors, and tailgate handle to matte black. This better matches the FORD matte black grille and a new black Ford logo on the tailgate. The wheels also feature a new matte Asphalt Black finish as well. Capping off the changes are red front tow hooks.

Taking inspiration from its exterior, the Ranger Raptor X also dons a new interior accent package. Red contrasting stitching on the dash and steering wheel replaces the original blue, while Hydrographic and Black Alley accents are found on the dashboard and door trim.

Beyond its cosmetic upgrades, Ford Ranger Raptor X continues with its strong 213 horsepower, 500 Nm of torque bi-turbo engine mated to a 10-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted magnesium paddles.

It also gets a unique Terrain Management System which includes Baja mode as well as bigger and beefier brakes with twin-piston calipers and vented rotors measuring 332 x 32 mm upfront and rear discs with 332 x 24 mm rotors.

Are you digging the Ranger Raptor X, or do you prefer the stock Ranger Raptor instead?
