The spokesperson of the government’s anti-communism task force trended on Twitter Wednesday (April 21) after he compared the woman who started the first community pantry in the country to Satan.
Ana Patricia Non started a community pantry along Maginhawa St. in Quezon City to help poor individuals amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Anyone can get items for free from the pantry.
“Alam mo ba isang tao lang ‘yan ‘di ba? Isang tao lang si Ana. Same with Satan. Si Satan binigyan ng apple si Eve, doon lang nagsimula ‘yun,” National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict spokesperson Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. said in an interview on TV5’s One News.
” The audacity of Parlade – with that face and track record – to liken Ana Patricia Non to Satan. Unbelievable. Rurok ng kawalanghiyaan,” tweeted artist Juan Miguel Severo.
“AFP’s reputation shrinks every time General Parlade opens his mouth,” said netizen @societyofhonor.
“IMAGINE THIS KIND OF BRAIN LURKING IN THE GOVERNMENT [vomiting emoji] You need professional help, Mr. Parlade! We are wasting people’s money with your rotten logic. You are one of the many unbelievable individuals in the administration who ruin the innately beautiful soul of the…,” tweeted @marcopaulogy.
” PARLADE is so obsessive to the extent of being paranoid to find anyone that might be connected to the communists. Eh samantalang yung boss nya hinihimod sa puwet ang leader ng biggest communist party in the world but he’s not taking any action,” tweeted @datumx11.
“Parlade’s unnecessary and uncalled for interference in community pantries just proves his existence as a public official has no relevance to the Filipino taxpayers thus his office should immediately be defunded,” said netizen @jelbacon.
Non had to pause the operations of the Maginhawa community pantry for a day over fears for her safety. She said some policemen visited her to ask for her personal details and whether she was linked to militant organizations.
The red-tagging of Non and other community pantry organizers have been denounced by several politikos, who said their initiatives to help should not be given any political color.
