Minimum of P15K: SC to give cash aid to court employees who got COVID-19

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo has decided to provide financial assistance to trial court judges and personnel who got hospitalized because of the COVID-19 virus.

“Considering that there are judges and court personnel of the first and second level courts who contracted COVID-19 while in the performance of their functions, there is a need to help them defray the hospitalization expenses incurred in treating COVID-19 infection,” read the April 27 circular of Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez.

“Accordingly, with the concurrence of the Members of the Court en banc, Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo has approved the grant of financial assistance to judges and court personnel who contracted COVID-19 and required inpatient care or hospital confinement, depending on the extent of their illness, from March 2020 until the current pandemic ends,” he said.

Marquez said those with mild to moderate illness will get P15,000; P30,000 goes to severe to critical illness which include, but not limited to, acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, requiring invasive ventilation, extracorporeal oxygenation, or renal replacement therapy, and the like; and P50,000 to those who died.

He advised those who want to avail the financial assistance to submit the required documents to the Office of the Court Administrator’s Financial Management Office (FMO-OCA).

The documents include positive test results of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) conducted since March 2020; medical certificate; death certificate; disbursement voucher; and obligation request.
