SC: COVID-19 death toll among judiciary employees now at 20

There have over 20 personnel of the judiciary who died due to the COVID-19 virus, Supreme Court (SC) Spokesperson Brian Hosaka revealed on Wednesday (April 28).

“As of April 25, 2021, 20 deaths, 1113 positive cases,” Hosaka told reporters.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo has already offered financial assistance to trial court judges and person who got hospitalized because of COVID-19.

Those who will receive assistance include those who had mild to moderate illness, P15,000; P30,000 goes to severe to critical illness which include, but not limited to, acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, requiring invasive ventilation, extracorporeal oxygenation, or renal replacement therapy, and the like; and P50,000 to those who died.

Magistrates and personnel of the judiciary have also been classified by the government A4 or frontliners in the priority list of persons who should receive vaccination against COVID-19.
