Malacañang on Thursday congratulated Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar on his appointment as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Binabati namin si Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar sa kanyang appointment bilang susunod na hepe ng ating pambansang kapulisan,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in his televised briefing.
Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte has “high expectations” on Eleazar, currently the deputy chief for administration.
“Mataas ang ekspektasyon sa inyo ng Pangulo, maging ng taumbayan, at naniniwala kami na kaya ninyong harapin ang anumang pagsubok na darating,” he added.
Eleazar will replace General Debold Sinas, who is set to retire on Saturday.
