Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo has expressed confidence that the domestic economy will grow more rapidly following the drop in the country’s unemployment rate in March.
Panelo was reacting to a Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) report that the Philippine jobless rate went down to 7.1 percent from February’s 8.8 percent.
“Ang puwersa ng manggagawa ang siyang malakas na partisipante sapagkat sila, ‘pag sila ay naibalik sa trabaho, oh eh di malago na naman ang industriya,” the abogado said during his commentary show “Counterpoint” on Saturday.
According to him, this employment recovery from the Covid-19 crisis was a promising sign.
“Mukhang ang mga senyales ay nagpapahiwatig ng magandang balita sapagkat dahan-dahan tayong nakakabalik doon sa daan patungo sa kasaganahan,” said Panelo.
Data from the PSA’s latest labor force survey results showed that around 3.441 million Filipinos are jobless in March, down from 4.187 million in February.
