Palace apologizes for delayed benefits of frontline health workers

By Prince Golez

MalacaƱang has apologized for the long delay of hazard pay for medical frontliners.

In a recent virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque assured that all health workers serving in the frontlines would be granted Covid-19 hazard pay.

Roque issued the remark after a group of medical frontliners celebrated the National Health Workers’ Day last May 7 by staging a protest against their working conditions and pay during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Administrative Order (AO) 35 authorized the grant of active hazard duty pay of up to P3,000 per month to all human resources for health.

AO 36 also allowed the grant of special risk allowance of up to P5,000 per month to private and public health workers providing care and treatment for Covid-19 patients.
