MalacaƱang said it supports the decision of the Department of Labor and Employment to suspend the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Israel amid the rising violence between Israel and the Palestinians.
“Suportado po ng MalacaƱang ang naging desisyon ni Secretary (Silvestre) Bello (III) na panandaliang itigil muna ang pagpapadala ng OFWs sa Israel,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser Thursday.
This, according to Roque, will ensure the safety of Filipinos.
Bello earlier announced the temporary suspension of OFW deployment to Israel due to the escalating Israel-Gaza conflict.
“Medyo maghintay-hintay lang po tayo dahil sa hindi magandang kondisyon sa Israel na patutunguhan natin ay meron muna tayong precautionary suspension ng deployment doon,” the Labor chief said.
