Pimentel: PDP-Laban internal party issues distracting us from passage of priority bills

Focus on pandemic, not politics.

Senator Koko Pimentel is dismayed that the internal issues of the ruling party have been distracting the priorities during the pandemic.

For Pimentel, the PDP-Laban party should focus on the passage of the administration’s priority legislative bill issues rather than dwell on internal matters of the group. Pimentel serves as the party’s executive vice chairman.

“We are still rushing priority bills of the Administration and yet we are being distracted at the same time by PDP LABAN internal party issues which could and should wait,” he wrote on Twitter.

“We should know what to prioritize during this PANDEMIC,” he said.

Pimentel issued the statement after Malacañang sanctioned the meeting of the PDP-Laban national council on May 31. The upcoming meeting, organized by party vice chairman Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, had the blessing of President Duterte, chairman of the PDP-Laban.

Senator Manny Pacquiao, acting president of the party, earlier asked members not to attend the meeting. The party feud began following reports the two camps sides were pushing for different candidates to be fielded in the 2022 presidential and vice presidential polls.
