Politikos honor amazing moms, wives on Mother’s Day

It’s Mother’s Day and people, including politikos, are taking on social media to mark the special occasion.

Politikos have paid tribute to their moms and wives online with throwback photos and sweet messages, showing appreciation for their unconditional love.

Among those sending heartfelt messages for the special women in their lives are former Vice President Jojo Binay, Senators Risa Hontiveros, Bong Revilla, Manny Pacquiao, Sonny Angara, Koko Pimentel, and Francis Pangilinan, and former Senator Bongbong Marcos.

Pacquiao made a heartwarming tribute to his mother Dionesia, thanking her for the sacrifices she made for the family.

“Ma, salamat sa lahat ng sacrifice na ginawa mo para sa amin. Marami na ang nagbago sa buhay natin ngayon keysa sa buhay natin dati sa Bukidnon, at dahil ito sa iyo. Ma, ang pagmamahal mo, at ang katatagan mo ang inspirasyon namin para magsumikap na maabot ang aming pangarap,” he said.

The boxer-turned-politiko also thanked his wife Jinkee “for sharing your love and your life with me and our children.” “I am eternally grateful that during my moments of victory and defeat, you were there to make me feel the warmth of your embrace, the comfort of your kiss and the encouragement of your voice,” the boxing icon said.

Angara also took to social media to shower the important women in his life with love and thanks.
“Sending love to the amazing women in my life and to every Filipino mom. Happy mother’s day! #mothersday,” he said.

On Mother’s Day, Senator Hontiveros remained grateful for her mom as she recognized the qualities of a good mother.

“Kailangan ng sakripisyo at malalim na pagibig para maging mabuting ina. Ang pag-ibig ni nanay ay walang kapantay. Para sa lahat ng ina, mommy, mama, anuman ang tawag sa atin bilang nanay o tumatayong nanay, Happy Happy Mother’s Day sa ating lahat! To Mommy: For all that has been, thanks! To my kids, you make pondering the questions of life worthwhile. I love you,” she said.

Revilla also honored his wife Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado in a sweet tribute online. “Happy Mother’s Day Mama! 🌹❤️😊 bonding kami with the newest member of our family, Rocky! 🐶hehe🤣” he said.

Pimentel also posted a special Mother’s Day message to his mom and mother-in-law. “Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there especially 1) to my Nanay Bing who endured extraordinary sacrifices to make sure her six children grow up as normal as possible under the Martial Law years, 2) to my mother in law Ma Imee who also raised five great and wonderful children,” he said.

Former Senator Bongbong penned a message for his mom former First Lady Imelda Marcos on Mother’s Day, thanking her for the love, patience and guidance. The Facebook message included a throwback photo with his mom.

“I owe everything I’ve become to the patience, love, and guidance of my Mother, and I’m sure most would say the same. Happy Mother’s Day to you all!” Marcos told his mother.

Marcs also wished his wife a wonderful Mother’s Day, sending her a virtual kiss and hug. “And of course, we can never forget, a Happy Mother’s Day to the mother of my children, Liza! A hug and a kiss on Mother’s Day from your boys!” he said.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar posted a photo with his wife Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay and their daughter Emma to celebrate Mother’s Day. “Happy Mother’s Day to my wife, Em! Emma and I love you very much!” he said.

Pangilinan remembered her sweet mom on Mother’s Day, sharing an old photo with her on Facebook. “THANK YOU Mommy for your amazing sacrifice and tireless, relentless efforts in educating us, raising all of us to be God fearing, prayerful 9 kids. I love you Mommy ❤️ ❤️ ❤️. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!” he said.

Other politikos have also honored their mothers and wives in their social media posts.
