Communication Secretary Martin Andanar stressed the need to establish close cooperation and coordination among tourism stakeholders to ensure the safety of travelling amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Kailangan ng close coordination at kooperasyon ng lahat ng mga tourism industry stakeholders upang mapanatili ang public health and safety,” Andanar said during his weekly program “Cabinet Report: The New Normal.”
Andanar also acknowledged the economic benefits that arise from the reopening of domestic tourism.
“Hindi matatawaran ang halaga ng turismo sa ating ekonomiya. At dahil dito maraming bahagi ng bansa ang gusto nang buksan ang sarili sa mga turista,” he added.
The government’s Covid-19 task force earlier allowed leisure travel between Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal or NCR Plus and areas under modified general community quarantine.
All travelers, however, must test negative for Covid-19 and adhere to the guidelines and protocols set by local government units.
