Calibrated response needed to protect Pinoys vs Covid – Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday hinted at “calibrating” the government’s response on the pandemic if Filipinos continue to violate Covid-19-related rules.

During his televised “Talk to the People” address, Duterte said the national government has the “power to control” the movement of people during this outbreak.

“As we go along in this journey reading the pandemic from our country, we will adopt measures that would be commensurate to the gravity of the situation,” the country’s chief executive said.

He lamented the failure of people in some areas in Visayas and Mindanao to observe quarantine protocols.

“Kagaya ng Mindanao then Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro, nakita ko talaga, I passed the place while going home to Mindanao, na ang mga tao balewala, parang walang nangyari, parang walang sakit, basta pasyal nang pasyal,” said Duterte.

“They go about their daily business, though not intentional of harming other people, but consciously having the Covid-19 in their bodies, at alam mo ‘yan at you do not honor the protocols, iyan magkakaproblema ka,” he added.
