DAR turns over P53M farm-to-market road in Bukidnon

By Prince Golez

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over two farm-to-market road (FMR) projects amounting to P53 million in Bukidnon province, Secretary Brother John Castriciones said Saturday.

In a statement, Castriciones said the projects would benefit 403 household beneficiaries of Barangay Capihan in Libona and Barangays Mantibugao and Lunocan in the town of Manolo Fortich.

These involve the rehabilitation/concreting of 3.83-kilometer (km) Mantibugao-Sebucawan-Awol FMR worth P37,207,154.95 in Manolo Fortich, and the P16-million 1.38 km Kalasuyan to Botoc FMR (Phase 1) in Kalasuyan, Libona.

Castriciones said the road projects would help Bukidnon farmers transport their products to various markets and trading centers.

“Through these FMRs, the farmers would now have cheaper and easier access to their destinations. The time they saved from their usual trip could be spent in cultivating their farms to increase their yields in the coming days,” according to him.

The DAR chief noted that the provision of support services is a continuing activity of the DAR to boost food production and improve the lives of the farmers.

“We should know their concerns and issues and give them what they need to ensure that the lands we distribute would be productive enough to improve the farmers’ lives,” said Castriciones.
