Duterte calls anew for passage of priority economic bills

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte is hoping that all the remaining priority measures of his administration will be passed by Congress before his term ends.

“I would like to emphasize the need for fruitful collaboration [with both] Houses of Congress to ensure the passage of the remaining priority legislation of this administration,” Duterte said during the ceremonial signing of 16 legislative measures in Malacañang on Thursday.

Duterte reiterated the need to pass the Package 3 and 4 of the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program, and the amendments to the Retail Trade Liberalization Act, the Foreign Investments Act, and the Public Service Act.

These measures, according to him, would bring “genuine reforms” to the Philippines.

“May these laws come to fruition soon,” the Chief Executive said.

“Let me assure our kababayans that this administration will continue forging people-centered policies geared towards sustainable development,” he added.
