Duterte focused on Covid-19 response, not 2022 polls

President Rodrigo Duterte remains focused on government efforts responding to threats related to Covid-19 pandemic, Malacañang said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque had this to say when asked if Duterte has already chosen his running mate in the 2022 national elections.

“As of now, siguro nakatutok pa rin ang Presidente po dito sa pandemya, sa bakuna,” Roque said in a virtual presser Thursday.

“Ang importante naman ay mabakunahan ang pinakamarami nating mga kababayan nang sa ganoon magkaroon po talaga tayo ng eleksyon kung saan ang mga tao at ang mga kandidato ay magkakaroon ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng panayam at makaboto nang pinakamabuting mga kandidato,” he added.

But, the Palace official named some of Duterte’s “options” as potential running mates.

They include Davao City Sara Duterte-Carpio; Senators Christopher Go and Manny Pacquiao; former Senator Bongbong Marcos; and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
