1Sambayan has stooped down to insulting President Rodrigo Duterte’s allies in a desperate bid to win voters over.
The opposition coalition took a potshot at former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Saturday (June 19), posting a photo from the lunch she hosted at her Quezon City home for Senator Imee Marcos, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez.
The photo, which has been making the rounds online, showed the politikos and Arroyo’s son, Pampanga Rep. Mikey Arroyo, seated around the dinner table at the former President’s residence.
The caption read: “nakakahinog talaga ng mga #mangga yung liwanag ng chandelier ni madam [clown emoji] chill lang po sa lamensa while waiting for #justdeserts to be served. #soon.”
1Sambayan has since deleted the tweet.
The opposition coalition’s much awaited revelation last week of its nominees for president and vice president ended flat after four of the politikos it shortlisted declined.
Senator Grace Poe, CIBAC party-list Rep. Eddie Villanueva and Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos all said they don’t have plans of running for president and vice president.
Abogado Chel Diokno, meanwhile, said he’s focused on his legal work but later said he will run in the 2022 elections. He didn’t specify the post he will aim for.
Only Vice President Leni Robredo and former senator Antonio Trillanes IV were left in 1Sambayan’s initial shortlist of candidates being considered for president and vice president.
The opposition coalition said it respects their nominees’ decision to weigh their political plans following the mass rejection of their nomination.
